Operating Partner, iSelect Fund
From 2016 to 2019, Chas was an operating partner at Arsenal Capital Partners, a New York City based private equity firm acquiring and building middle-market specialty chemical companies. While at Arsenal, he served as president and CEO of Solvaira Specialties, a food ingredients company owned by Arsenal. He also served as a board director at Arsenal portfolio companies Spartech LLC, Chroma Color Corporation and Meridian Adhesives Group. From 2014 to 2016 he was a managing director and specialty chemical sector leader with the Chicago-based middle-market private equity firm Akoya Capital Partners.
From 2008 to 2014, he was CEO and a board director of OPX Biotechnologies, Inc., a venture capital financed company using biotechnology to produce chemicals from renewable raw materials. During his tenure at OPXBIO, the company grew from a startup to employ 70 people, raised more than $70 million in funding, and formed strategic partnerships with The Dow Chemical Company and Evonik Industries AG. OPXBIO was acquired by Cargill.
He joined OPX from AkzoNobel where he was president of the Specialty Polymers Group. Chas worked at the National Starch and Chemical Company of ICI PLC from 1999 to 2007 as vice president of Personal Care and vice president of Food Ingredients–Europe before being named group vice president of Specialty Polymers.
Chas served as vice president of Sales and Marketing with Engelhard Corporation from 1997 to 1999. He began his career with Monsanto Company, progressing over 20 years through roles with increasing responsibilities in technology, manufacturing, business development, marketing and general management. While at Monsanto, he served as vice president of Monsanto Venture Capital, which operated in partnership with Advent International.
Eggert is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Additional prior board director positions include the American Chemistry Council, the Biotechnology Industry Organization and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado. He was a Founding Director and Chairman of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association.
Chas earned a BS in chemical engineering and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis, as well as an MS in biochemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
